Paddle boarding and windsurfing course dates for 2018

Ben will make them look pleasing but here is the rough cut for 2018. Most lessons will be at the "Duck Pond", which is our centre by the Imperial recreation ground. The water is shallow and remains flat unless there is a North Westerly. It is a brilliant place to take the first steps in learning new watersports skills. And the view from the water is amazing.

Our SUP club will meet at the Duck pond either Saturday or Sunday and occasionally pop over to Orcombe for a SUP to Sandy Bay and back - but that is for those with a little bit of paddle boarding experience.

We will post a leaflet soon with the full years programme.

Here are some of the early dates, come and join in - book yourself on a course ready for a good start in the spring or if the weather holds email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., courses are still running at the moment.

20 knot club Email Print

This weekend we are running our windsurfing 20 knot club on Saturday and Sunday at the duck pond in Exmouth.

These sessions are ideal for intermediates looking to improve skills on the water. On Saturday, John will be running the session from 3pm and focusing on using big sails, harnesses, footstraps and making the most of the conditions. He will get you practicing on our windsurf simulator, getting in and out of the footstraps and adjusting trim and balance.

On Sunday, Steve will be there from 3:30pm with what looks like slightly windier conditions. He will lead on from Saturday's session for further troubleshooting and technique improvement.

Preparation for the Season 2015 Email Print

Getting Ready for our Easter opening 2015

We busy cleaning and painting the centre getting ready for the new season.

The estuary centre has been brilliant this year with lots of great teaching days in all sports.  Next season we are

expanding the changing area into the old office and moving the office to our new campsite. The new centre will be closer to Orcombe point and Sandy bay. That means for the larger groups that come to the estuary we will have more changing facilities and just as much wonderful equipment to play on.

The beach club at Orcombe point will have a changing tent as well as the sports tents. Though we expect to move people around with our new Mini bus from the new centre, it is where people can meet for courses and we have dedicated class rooms for those essential theory chats. It will make parking much easier for our students and improvers.

Sandy Bay will operate from the container and the equipment will be waiting on the beach under another sport tent. One of the power boats will be stationed there and will move between Sandy bay and Orcombe point.

The new campsite will be offering activity weekend and week breaks and we will keep everyone posted about the developments. The site will be open from Mid January as we have residential accommodation in place.

So all you Kitesurfers, windsurfers, Paddle boarders, Kayakers, climbers, walkers, adventurers and explorers call us on 01395 276626 or email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to find out more.

looking forward to a great 2015 season the Exmouth watersports Team

Windsurf racing at the Duck pond - come join us Email Print

Exmouth Windsurfing Race Series - Race Report, 26 April 2014

A slate grey Victorian sky greeted the competitors for the first Exe Estuary based event and with south westerly winds gusting in excess of 20mph a reaching biased course was set.

Race one was dominated by Fairgrieve; taking a high line to the first mark he opened a noticeable lead during the second leg with Morgan, Dummett and Russell in efficient pursuit. Morgan’s board speed closed the gap on the leader but the one lap warm up race offered few overtaking opportunities and Fairgrieve crossed the finish line unchallenged.

Race two saw Morgan grab an electric start reaching the first mark with room to spare. Only a mistimed gybe allowed both Fairgrieve and Dummett to slip through. Composure restablished, Morgan ripped up the second leg and closed on the new leader Fairgrieve. Lap two saw the final leg in contention but daggerboard failure on the pursuers Starboard Phantom handed Fairgrieve his second win of the day.

Overall Results: 1st - Toby Fairgrieve (Mistral/Tushingham) 2nd - John Morgan (Starboard/Ezzy)  3rd - Adam Dummett (Starboard/Ezzy) 4th - Eva Russell (Mistral /Tushingham)

We are all looking forward to the next opportunity to race, see you there.

Race Officer Mark Taylor
